3 Reasons to Vote YES on Prop. 15
1. It’s $12 billion every year for our schools and communities.
Prop. 15 will reclaim roughly $5 billion a year for K-12 schools & community colleges, prioritizing funds for schools with the highest needs.
Prop. 15 will reclaim roughly $7 billion a year for critical community services such as homeless services, public transportation, and pothole repairs.
Prop. 15 will improve public health by increasing funding for healthcare & vital social services.
Prop. 15 will help protect California from wildfires and other natural disasters by increasing funding for firefighters and first responders.
Prop. 15 mandates full transparency and accountability for all revenue restored to California’s schools and local communities.
2. It’s just common sense.
Prop. 15 will NOT raise taxes on homeowners, renters, small businesses or agricultural land.
Prop. 15 will decrease the tax burden on working families by making California’s property tax system fairer for homeowners. Today, homeowners pay 72% of property taxes, while commercial properties only pay 28%.
Prop. 15 provides the largest small business tax cut in a generation by eliminating the business personal property tax.
Prop. 15 will simply put California on par with the way the rest of the country taxes commercial property while keeping the property tax rate at 1% -- one of the lowest in the country. Prop. 15 will stop penalizing new businesses by leveling the playing field and taxing all large commercial property at fair market value.
Prop. 15 is not a uniform tax on all businesses. Most commercial properties are already assessed at or near market value -- 92% of the revenue comes from just 10% of all commercial property.
3. It’s supported by community organizations and opposed by big business special interests.

Prop. 15 opponents -- including Trump’s largest California donors, the real estate industry, conservative anti-tax groups and other big corporate interests are spending over $100 million to spread lies and scare voters in order to keep their special deal.
Prop. 15 is backed by a broad statewide coalition of community, faith-based, and labor groups including California’s teachers, nurses and firefighters as well as the California League of Women Voters, and the California PTA.
